Our Projects
Here at Triax Neighbourhood Management Team we have a wide variety of projects that specialise in different objectives, but they all fundamentally aim to create stronger communities that are more economically and ecologically sustainable, through provision of opportunities for learning new skills, services for community members in need and events to build positive relations throughout our area.

Peace Barriers
The Peace Barriers Programme (PBP) was launched in 2012 in 6 interface areas in the North of Ireland and is funded by the International Fund for Ireland (IFI). Our own programme focuses mainly on the Bishop Street-Fountain Interface. It is aimed at developing and delivering a range of confidence and relationship-building interventions as well as social-economic improvement and capacity-building within and between interface communities to help residents reach a position where they feel it is safe and appropriate to proceed with the alteration, declassification and/or removal of Peace Walls and other conflict architecture in their area. We also take the organisation's social-economic improvement and capacity-building activities to the interface area. Across Northern Ireland, interface areas remain deprived which only fuels grievance.

Better Together
The Better Together Project is a cross border programme, Funded by the International Fund for Ireland which brings together representatives from Muff,Lifford, Killea and Buncrana as well as organisational partners.
The key objective of the programme is to establish strong border partnerships, address community needs and pool resources and educational opportunities.
Last year we ran out programmes in all areas, Culture Days, Gardening Workshops, Dementia, First Aid and Community Development Training are some examples of this.
We have secured another 2yrs funding focusing on a more North / South relationship which we continue to build and expand on.

Triax Social Economy
Our Social Economy projects (Free Derry Coffee, Let's Bounce party and event hire, More and Less refill shop, ) seek to fill niches in our local market at a lower price point, with profits being reinvested into the community. Social economy projects function as businesses, and help create employment and training opportunities, establish a circular economy within communities and strengthen relations through these enterprises. Since we are not focused on maximising profits, our products also have the benefit of being more financially accessible to our community members, which is very important to us. Our various social enterprises have a vary of 'social objectives' (specific aims and objectives) but all focus on creating happier, healthier and more enriched lives within our communities.

Tús Maith
Tús Maith (Fresh Start as Gaeilge) continues to be an integral component of the TNMT, engaging directly with hundreds of residents each year and delivering home assistance, communal assistance, environmental awareness and educational projects throughout the Triax area.
Established in 2013 with the support of the now Department For Communities (DFC), it employs 4 full time staff and serves as a powerful tool in animating residents to become involved in environmental initiatives in their local areas, together with working in partnership with statutory agencies and residents to improve the physical appearance of the Triax Area.
It has also served, and continues to serve, as a mechanism whereby local people can gain valuable work experience and on the job training, as well as having Jobstart positions which allow young people to get trained on the job.
Tús Maith, not only carries out hundreds of individual jobs including grass cuts, power-washes, guttering and rubbish removals, some of which are carried out for our most vulnerable community members in the most dire of states, but also also played a pivotal role in the Triax Covid Community Response and Reclaim Your Lane projects, as well as providing logistical support to area wide projects such as the Gasyard Feile and the Christmas events.
